Steve

We lost our beloved boy, Steve, on Feb 5, 2024 to a vicious and fast growing cancer. We brought him into our pack in 2017 after NBR heroes rescued and fostered him and others— he came from a bad situation in Washington state. We will always be so grateful to Nancy Joeckel and other volunteers for bringing him into our lives. Steve was a bit reserved to begin with, but other the years, he blossomed. He was well-loved in our neighborhood, joining block parties every week where he would politely poke his friends with his long nose for treats. He loved to roughhouse with his brothers, hike with his mom, curl up with his toys, and be hugged by his people. He howled with enormous heart, even weakly on the day he left us. We loved this dog more than we could ever express. Steve was wonderful, funny, regal, and adored and we miss him deeply. 💔❤️💔Betsy Quammen Feb 2024
